Director of PR/Media Relations Tommy Viola had a
to sit down
with 1980 Philadelphia Phillies SP Marty Bystrom at this year’s
Phillies Winter Tour. Viola talked with Bystrom about his remarkable 1980 campaign and much more.
In 1980, as a 21-year-old rookie, Bystrom posted a 5-0 record with a 1.50 ERA over 36 innings pitched (five starts). He beat the Mets twice, as well as the Cubs twice, and helped lead his team to the 1980 World Series championship.
